Christmas Reminiscing with David Lee Roth

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Wish that was an album.

Anyway, you may have noticed there’s no new strip today. It’s because instead of just two strips this week on Tuesday and Friday, we’re giving you two strips on Thursday! ON CHRISTMAS! Like it’s a present! That is free! And has bad words in it!

SO COOL

So, yeah, check back on Thursday for a very special Christmas episode of Let’s Be Friends Again.

We have other free things to show you.

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

The guys at Fused Film have been putting our single panel movie themed strips up real weekly like.

We’ve covered the forthcoming sequel to Manos: The Hands of Fate (Also known as Hands: The Hands of Fate in Spanish, or Manos: The Manos of Manos in Esperanto), a casting choice that might have perhaps saved Frank Miller’s The Spirit, and the Thompson Twins Tintin cameo.

When we had the idea to do the Thompson Twins strip, I was thinking of Nelson. I still wanted to just go ahead and have Nelson be in Tintin. I think I would like Nelson in anything, really.

Maybe Nelson as Asterix and Obelix? Nelson as Encyclopedia Brown? Nelson as Bert and Ernie? All great ideas. Never steal them.

Here is a picture of myself and Chris all done up by a real artist – Jemma Salume.

Chris did up some fancy computer screen thing of Terry Taggart, Microscopic Urethra Explorer for you all to put on your shitty Linux boxes. Everybody needs to go to Best Buy and Wal-Mart and put this on the computers there. You’ll save people from millions of fatal urinary tract infections.

We made a comic!

Fused Film, those dudes that talk about movies and entertainment and are members of the Illuminati, put our latest strip up on their site, which I guess you get to if you click here. Or this one. Or this one. PSYKE IT’S HERE

Haha, fooled you, grandma. Welcome to the internet! Click here for good deals on hankerchiefs or whatever – www.goatse.cx

Anyway, the strip over there is Scott Pilgrim based. Bryan Lee O’Malley Twattered about it, I think. Chris and I have given Mr. Lee O’Malley (from the same Irish Highlands as Shaquille O’Neal, FWIW(For What It’s Worth, FYI)) a lot of money. Here are sketches he did for us at Heroes Con, I think? We’ve seen him at SPX, Heroes Con, and MoCCA, so that’s weird that I probably saw Bryan Lee O’Malley more than my grandma last year. Sorry, grandma. Make something like Scott Pilgrim and maybe I’ll call you back.

Slight Delay Pt. 1

Friday, January 30th, 2009

So the new comic won’t be up until tomorrow. I know, I’m frightened as well.

But, meanwhiles, here’s a picture done by the excellent Jemma Salume that’s been all colored up.

It’s of Chris and I’s alter egos – The Enthusiast and Mr. Fahrenheit Jr. – mixing it up.

Spoiler: I win at the end.

A note from the Artist

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Doesn’t that make you want to read more, tell your friends, and send us money?
I bet it does.
After our foray into reality-altering, Grant Morrison enamorizing comics that few understand, we’re back to weird, dark, “funny” comics that few understand.

Joking aside, I’m really amazed and thankful for the level of success we’ve had with the comic in such a short period of time, and I know that’s due in no small part to you (the person who is reading this) and people like you who have been kind enough to check us out and tell others that we’re worth their time.

That is a thing which is awesome, and I hope it continues.
Making comics with Curt continues to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, but knowing that what we’re making is making other people laugh or smile or whatever is a specific kind of good feeling that’s hard to describe.

Thanks, Chris. I’m sure whatever you said was nice, but I’m sort of busy right now.

Just to know means so much to me..

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Hey, it’s Chris again.

Impromptu reader poll time, folks!

Whether you’ve been following LBFA for a while or are one of the new influx of people we’ve seen over the last few weeks, we need your help.

It’s simple enough, we just need you to leave a comment (here in this blog) telling us what your favorite strip or strips are.

I have total faith that you can help us out with this.

The meek will inherit.. something.

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Hi there.
It’s Chris again.

Curt doesn’t know I’m doing this, so this’ll just be our little secret.

Since what should be today’s new strip won’t be up until tomorrow on account of me being sick yesterday, I thought I’d share this little bit of business I found.

You can click on this picture for a closer look at the pencils from the cover of Curt’s rejected JSA pitch.

I wonder who’d be stupid enough to draw something like that.

Hope this helps with the waiting, and be here tomorrow for the thrilling conclusion!

It’s time to play the music..

I’m sure you’ve heard us say this before, but we have been incredibly fortunate to receive the kind of recognition/linkage LBFA has garnered so far in it’s short run.
I’m sure you’ve also heard us say how incredibly grateful we are for the previously mentioned good fortune.
I’m sure you’ve also, also heard us say that seeing the kind of readership previously mentioned linkage has garnered us has been incredibly awesome.

Having said all of that though, it still never gets old seeing a new person comment or finding out we’ve been linked somewhere new.
Today we got linked/had a comic of ours posted in a column at Comic Nexus (who apparently found it via Comicbooks.com).
This is awesome.
Before today I had no idea either of those places existed, but now I do, and they both seem terribly interesting to me… because I love comics.

Also today, Kevin Church tweeted about our new comic before I had a chance to do so.
That is also awesome.

The ISS is a website I was aware of and enjoyed before they added us to the short list of comic links they feature on their illustrious side-bar.
My opinion of this? You guessed it. Awesome.

I’m not really going anywhere with this other than to say, “If you are a person who likes us enough to tell other people, then we think you are awesome and we thank you.”

Wherein I use the blog to answer a question.

Saturday, April 11th, 2009

To answer Brian’s question about our latest comic, yes, that is a piece of framed Superman artwork in the background of the second panel.

It’s not just any piece of Superman art though, it’s this piece of Superman art..

Superman Riding Devil Dinosaur! by Evan "Doc" Shaner

My buddy Evan "Doc" Shaner did this incredible watercolor piece of my favorite subject as a surprise gift for me.
explodingmoose.blogspot.com/2009/03/dinosaur-tamer.html
As you can imagine, this made for a very memorably exciting trip to the mailbox.

The good “Doc” is basically one of the nicest guys it is possible to know as far as I’m concerned, and you’d be doing yourself a favor if you checked out his blog for more of his great art, including his incredible Flash Fridays!
