Great idea!

We’re not saying that Darwyn Cooke is motivated by money, because, hey, we don’t know that guy, but I bet it sure doesn’t hurt.

In other news: The Variants is running a Kickstarter to fund Season 3 of their YouTube based comedy series about some folks working in a comic shop. The LBFA relevant news? They want us to be in all of Season 3! Oh my!

Go help them out if you want to see us make fools of ourselves more than we usualy do.

Yeah, I would get into a fight defending Darwyn Cooke’s talent. We’re just giving him a little good natured ribbing.

Young Justice has been better than the New 52, in my opinion. The character designs, the continuity changes, the overall creative direction, the character portrayals.

The Captain Marvel on Young Justice is not only the best presentation of that character in decades, but is also a great example of why Geoff Johns is full of crap.

The art shift in the second panel there just killed me.

    Yup.

I’m glad that Cooke didn’t resort to shitting on Moore in his justification of his participation in Before Watchmen, and kept it pretty respectful. I’m still not gonna touch those books, but I really need to check out Parker one of these days.

This is even better if you read it in Jack Nicholson’s voice for some reason.

Yeah, things like the JMS book I wouldn’t even consider, but with Cooke at the helm, I keep thinking “if he just called it something else and used original characters, it could be amazing…”

…And then I remember that already happened and he called it New Frontier. And it was.

Though DC: The New Frontier only had one new character (Hooded Justice, or something like that).

Imagine if, say, all the characters Jack Kirby created got this golden calf treatment for a second. You can’t say Kirby doesn’t deserve it.

The corporate boner DC would have if Alan Moore suddenly “Liked money” would take the side of a building out.

To be honest? As terrific as an artist as he is, I don’t think the man’s a great plotter at all. And I’ve heard stories from other creators/journalists that give me the impression he’s incredibly full of himself.

  11. Crisis On Infinite Midlives - Watchmen Strikes Again: Minutemen #1 Review

[...] So when I see things in Minutemen¬†#1 like Hooded Justice somehow disappearing a goon on one side of a block-wide warehouse, and then somehow within instants moving unseen to the other side of the block-wide warehouse and stalking across a catwalk up to the remaining goon, making the goon piss himself in abject terror as if Hooded Justice were Angry Jesus as opposed to a stocky BDSM freak in a homemade lucha libre outfit just fucking walking toward him, I need to calm my standard, “This is a Thing That Should Not Be” rage and remind myself that Cooke might have a goal for this story that is not currently apparent. And hopefully that goal is something beyond, “I like lots of money.” [...]
