Audition
Ok, that’s it for the self indulgence. Don’t worry, we’ll address Catwoman fucking Batman and the complete realignment of Starfire next week.
This and the last strip were borne of a weird sort of melancholy. Not anything personal, don’t worry, just more of a “I choose to live in this world of comics and it’s so fucking weird and what the hell am I doing here” kind of thing. You keep your head down and move forward for a long time until you one day look up and don’t recognize where you’re at.

Yeah, the whole DC reboot really threw into sharp relief just how constructed everything in comics is. Like, you feel like as a fan and a consumer you’re engaged and participating in this world, but you’re not and you can leave anytime. Except that you can’t. I dunno.

I really dig this melancholic direction. Seriously – it’s weird and good. As for who the older Chris and Curt are, I assumed they are the “current” Chris and Curt, but old and knackered, and these are the new guys drafted into replace them. I hope I’m right.
