Crutches
That’s what I thought her name was until maybe two years ago.
Silhouette, the partially paralyzed member of the New Warriors, girlfriend of Night Thrasher, maybe the first (only?) handicapped minority super-hero and I seriously thought her name was Crutches.
I would normally say I’m an idiot. But a lot of my childhood was spent obsessing over making it into the Burger King Kid’s Club. To me, it was the Ivy League of shit marketed directly at me. I didn’t even give a fuck about eating there, I just wanted to be in a cool club.
One of the fictional members of the BK Kids Club? A dude in a wheelchair. Named Wheels.
So, I blame society basically.

Beth Chapell (Doctor Midnight) from Infinity Inc. predates her by five years but she’s so often overlooked that I’m not surprised you don’t remember her. There’s probably someone that predates them both.
