We hate everything
Axe Cop, if you don’t know, is a young webcomic written by a six year old and drawn by his brother. Already the comic has become an internet sensation, netting the creators a book deal with Dark Horse and presumably lots and lots of moneys.
We hate Axe Cop. Not for any artistic reasons, not for any reasons pertaining to craft or anything like that. We hate it purely because it’s not as old as our comic and has become way more successful. We cry in bed at night. Our hatred has begun to cause us to turn on one another. The only pure being of hatred I’ve ever met that rivals us is Sean George, who I believe to be the avatar of hatred made flesh.
In happier news, we have an awesome announcement next week! Stay tuned!

Funny comic. I may pick up the collected edition of Axe Cop. Oh, yeah, Sean George is hate personified. He probably has a Black Lantern ring somewhere, LOL.

I get jealous that way when I see really, really good art on the Internet. “Oh, that’s so good! Damn them!” If I had this kind of deal when I was six, I’d probably be rich by now – had a city full of witches and goblins and such before Harry Potter, before Halloweentown. Come to think of it, I also get irrationally angry at the name “Diagon Alley” because it’s so clever, I didn’t think of it first, and now nobody else can ever use it.

If it makes you feel any better, “lots and lots of moneys” would not be accurate. Enough to live on, sure… and in web comics I guess that is pretty good. But I still rent a tiny room and can’t afford my own place. That said, I totally understand. Axe Cop’s success came out of nowhere and I totally didn’t see it coming. I’d probably hate it if I wasn’t the one making it. Good luck with your own work! -Ethan

Hey, look! Someone on the internet has a sense of humor and acts like an adult when they’re fake-insulted by a webcomic! Nice job, Ethan, and congratulations on the book deal.
I will say, however, that episode 81 was totally sexist and that your little brother should be ashamed of himself. Until he admits publicly that the patriarchy has afforded him all his success, I refuse to read Axe Cop.

Haha, good one guys. I started Space Shark around the same time Axe Cop started, I never was good at “going viral” so I did get that professional jealousy for a moment, but I got over it =D
I got to meet Ethan at sdcc and bought his Chumble Spuzz books and got the epic Axe Cop poster though. Great guy!
Everyone keep making comics !

If it makes you feel better, I’ve been doing this for way longer than you guys and have like ten readers. It does warm my heart to see that your Project Wonderful ads are going for only a few cents more than mine, though.

Tell me about it.
And I think your comic is awesome, so there. Suck it, six year-old.
Wait, is it super illegal to say that? Yes? Oh.
I have to go.

You guys are killing every other webcomic out there, as measured by ComicsAlliance mentions. That’s got to be worth something, right?

I’ll take this opportunity to say that I just found your comic and have been working backward through the archive, I’d compare it to the Penny Arcade of the comics world. And while it might not seem like a compliment to be compared to another comic, and I don’t know how you guys feel about PA, that’s high praise coming from me. I’m a big fan of what you’re doing here. KEEP IT UP!
