What I love is the use of the flag on the Latverian Hockey Jersey’s. It’s the same flag from those Doom mini-series from 10 years ago set on Counter-Earth. I loved that series.

Makes me think of the Dr. Doom ride at Islands of Adventure, or rather the wait in line part – lots of Latveria-themed nationalistic stuff there. Don’t remember if they played a “national anthem” though…

Matt Drane – I don’t know if anything was the actual anthem, but I definitely remember them playing very Doom-ish music in that line. Speaking of that ride, I rode it like 5 times when I was down there last summer with my little cousins.

The third panel rocks! I know it’s been said many times, many ways, but Latvia’s team looks badass (especially with the Kirby Krackle in the background)! I hope you can find a way to use the character design again in another strip.
