Spot on, sirs! Another glorious entry into the LBFA Annals! Here, Here!
January 26th, 2010 at 6:26 pm
I guess you could say I’m enjoying this comic yet AGAIN. (ed note: ‘again’ is a word found in the title of this comic)
January 26th, 2010 at 7:02 pm
I don’t care. Superman stepping on Brainiac’s face is still awesome.
January 26th, 2010 at 8:19 pm
Sinestro Corps War was still one of my favorite comics of all time
January 26th, 2010 at 8:58 pm
Thomas – The face-stepping is indeed very awesome. It’s the quip he said while doing it that we’re bringing up. Our point is if Johns used this “device” sparingly it would be awesome, but when you read as many of his comics as Curt and I do, you start to notice that he uses it so often it gets funny. Making this comic I found way too many examples to use. Often there were multiple examples of this in a single issue.
Nothingman – It’s one of our favorites too.* *= see my comment to Thomas

Also, just for the record, “KABOOM BITCH HERE I AM!” is now my battle cry.
January 27th, 2010 at 1:33 am
I just started reading yesterday and it was so good I went through the whole archives. Pure awesome. You guys got yourself a fan.
Also, am I the only one who hears the CSI: Miami theme after reading “his hour- is up.” ?
January 27th, 2010 at 1:50 am
My shit’s in your inbox, Curt. Twice.
Is “KABOOM BITCH HERE I AM!” actually in a comic? I want to read that.
January 27th, 2010 at 7:01 am
but man remember when he was still so bad ass…i still like my theory that johns has caught “bendis disease”….when u write half of a company’s major books..u start to get stale
January 27th, 2010 at 7:46 am
Freakin’ awesome, guys.
January 27th, 2010 at 11:56 am
I see your points, but I still like Johns. He got me to like Hal Jordan and the JSA.

Curt and Chris also like Johns’s comics. They mention that RIGHT THERE.
January 27th, 2010 at 4:44 pm
Exactly. We’re not even saying it’s bad, we’re just saying it’s funny.
January 27th, 2010 at 5:02 pm
at least we didn’t have to look at too much of chris’ art in this one.
January 27th, 2010 at 5:03 pm
Oh and PS, Chris:
“Never show a good movie in the middle of your crappy movie.”
January 27th, 2010 at 7:16 pm
April – Damn, dude. If I didn’t like MST3K quotes so much you’d be dead as hell.
January 27th, 2010 at 7:20 pm
PeterV – Thanks a lot, man. We are basically always in the market for new fans, so welcome aboard. Feel free to click that link over there on the right and buy our book and re-read a bunch of stuff you read for free in the archives as well as a bunch of stuff that isn’t available in the archives or anywhere else.
Or just tell some friends about us.
Or both.
Or neither.
Both is really the best option.
January 27th, 2010 at 7:22 pm
Joey – If Geoff Johns was smart (and he’s rich, so he must be), he’d have Hourman saying that on the cover of JSA next month just to stick it to us. I would get a tattoo that says “Geoff Johns Rules!” if he did that.
January 27th, 2010 at 7:54 pm
I’m just happy I’m not the only ghosthead here.
January 27th, 2010 at 10:24 pm
I would join you in that tattoo! And it would have to be two lines. The first is, of course, “KABOOM BITCH HERE I AM!” I just wanted to say that again. Fuck, I should make a gif for that.
January 28th, 2010 at 9:31 am
Johns doesn’t write JSA anymore, Willingham does.
and I’m pretty sure that name is too long to reasonably get tattoed, it would spill into your other body parts.
January 28th, 2010 at 9:45 am
“Exactly. We’re not even saying it’s bad, we’re just saying it’s funny.”
Agreed, but I can totally see this being used as a flag for the “Johns sucks and needs to be raped in hell or whatever” camp
also nice Hourman sketch dude
January 28th, 2010 at 11:47 am
Nathan – Yeah, I know he doesn’t write JSA anymore, but I’m hoping he’ll exert his DC big shot authority and make it happen anyway.
January 28th, 2010 at 11:47 am
Nathan – Also, thanks!
January 28th, 2010 at 12:20 pm
Once again, I will tattoo that. Joey, am I off base in saying that it should that be incorporated into the Flash Gordon/Freddy Mercury piece?
January 28th, 2010 at 1:42 pm
I love your strip,
BUT SIRS… I must protest, and challenge you to a duel..
Geoff Johnns is a Golden God of writing Comics… I mean c’mon he made Green Lantern Bad Assed ! (again?) i don’t know if he was bad assed before, cause I didn’t rea dit before Johns, same with JSA…
Match POINT BITCHES!
p.s. Love your strip
January 28th, 2010 at 5:25 pm
Perhaps Johns should appear between the Mercury-Gordon and the Mercury-Ming and shout “KABOOM” etc. That could be EPIC.
January 28th, 2010 at 5:25 pm
Also, did you ever finish drawing that, Chris?
January 29th, 2010 at 6:36 am
@tommy
Dude, they freakin’ love Johns. It’s all done out of love.
The Loeb strips come from some other place entirely. Someplace dark, angry, and uncomfortable. Like the back of a Volkswagen.
January 29th, 2010 at 3:48 pm
Chris – Willingham isn’t the kind of guy to listen to executives, guy blew up on Whedon.
Also does that pic from the new BN Flash count? I mean it’s half a page.
January 29th, 2010 at 10:08 pm
I still have an aol account. I never look it. But I still remember Curtis Octave Franklin. I am still waiting for you to be famous.
January 29th, 2010 at 10:09 pm
never could find the trip line. Much love though. It made me.
January 30th, 2010 at 5:49 am
I’ve been making do with Wikipedia summaries of comics as an alternative to buying them for longer than I would like. Would you mind telling me what all of the “catchphrases” depicted in the last panel are, and who says them?
January 30th, 2010 at 10:41 am
Kadin – I was thinking of starting a blog that is nothing but Geoff Johns one-liners. If I do, we’ll post a link.
March 12th, 2010 at 2:31 pm
And that’s why he is the best Flash’s writer ever!!! His rogues are awesome!!!!
April 6th, 2010 at 7:43 am
I know this is old and late. I’m the guy who comments on dead comment threads. Just started reading this comic (got linked from 4thletter) and it’s great. Anyway…
“Would you believe we actually like Geoff Johns?” – No, not at all. There are plenty of creators who I love in every entertainment medium who have ticks that they use at least from time to time and even though I’m aware, I love them anyway. Nothing wrong with that.
For example, look at the Transformers fandom’s attitude towards Simon Furman. They have a whole list of “Furmanisms”, tropes and dialogue he uses all the time. While they’re very aware of this fact and spotting them has become something like a drinking game, they still love him for it.
April 6th, 2010 at 10:06 am
Lugh – Wait, so you don’t believe we actually like Geoff Johns?
