It’s under investigation..
When my step-mom asks if my little brothers would like the comics we’re making, I always have to say, “Uh, yeah, I’ll tell you the site address later.”

is bendis supposed to be some comic guy that uses a lot of word bubbles? I’m lost here, but i’m sure you two did the best you could to make my tiny nerd brain understand.
Also it could be the alcohol.
Oop wait, I got it now. http://tinyurl.com/oxx2o4

“Brian Michael Bendis” is a writer for Marvel, and one of the more famous ones. I’ve heard the name reasonably often in comic circles (less than Waid but more than Giffen), but I don’t believe I’ve read any of his work. I’ve no idea why he would be killing people with speech bubbles. I’m pretty sure the characters are from his noir detective thingamabobber called “Powers”, but that’s it.

He’s killing the characters with speech balloons because that’s what he does, he overloads the comics with talking and spends so much time emphasizing dialogue that the story takes like 8 years to unfold.

I realize now that the second panel really should be a lot more gruesome.

Joe – And that was only possible because you were kind enough to let me borrow those Powers trades.

I read Powers, so I love this comic. It’s awesome to me. Some of your non-comics readers might not get it, but oh well. Can’t please everybody all of the time.

Oh now I get it! I guess you guys thought showing him getting word fucked would be a little too graphic. Getting fucked up by word bubbles works just as well!

Bendis is actually THE biggest writer at Marvel for those trying to a get a handle on who he is. He is WAY bigger than Waid, sonofzeal. Not sure if it is intentional, but this is a nice riff on a classic scene from The Wire.

Donnie, I was thinking of the same scene from The Wire. I was wondering if this was going to be a mash-up of The Wire and Powers, so the twist of Bendis being the villain surprised me.
