Wherein I address the cries of the internet.

Dear Internet,
Please stop worrying about Asterix.
Whether or not we like him, Asterix is long, long dead.
So, you know, he doesn’t really care.
That was a joke.
He cares a LOT about whether or not we like him.
He’s at home crying and wiping his eyes with his crazy ass moustache every night hoping that each new tomorrow will be the day we start liking him.
And so to make both Asterix (even though he has done nothing for us) and all of you feel better, I’m going to publicly declare that we are fans of Asterix.
And before any other European comics feel slighted, yes, we also like Blacksad, Judge Dredd, The Smurfs, Lucky Luke, and virtually every other non-American comic character.
But mostly Tintin.
Nobody gets hit in the head more than Tintin.

I’ve tried so hard to like Asterix. I feel like I am supposed to like Asterix. People I like and respect like Asterix. But I have never, ever, ever been able to get past two or three pages of an Asterix comic.
But Tintin? Man, I just want to curl up and fall asleep all wrapped up in a cozy blanket of Tintin.

Poor, poor Asterix. He cries himself to sleep each night in his own themepark, wondering how he’s losing to EuroDisney.
Tintin is the man.
